3 years....not yet.

So I was thinking that I started my blog in April of '06, but I just looked back and it was July '06, cause I want to do an amazingly fun giveaway to celebrate, but since I'm a few months off, I would like to talk about something that weighs heavy on my mind. Ellen.
I know this picture might make some of you throw up in your mouths a little bit, and I do agree that it is a sin to be a same sex lover, but honestly, who doesn't have a few sins on their list? Not saying I tolerate it, but I just see it as another sin and if I were to gag at every sinner I saw, I'd never leave my house, never look in the mirror, never, well, anyways, last night my dad and I were talking about how we love to watch her show. How funny she is and how it's usually a very clean innocent humor, but still freaking hilaroius!
I probably only watch it once or twice a week, but if anyone caught this Monday's show...it was a little hard. I don't have a hard time seeing these two in pictures together, but on the show Portia was on and she kept calling her her wife, and they were talking about their first kiss and crap, I got a little sick (maybe the morning sickness), but still.

So, it has just made me curious as to other people's views on Ellen. I've been a fan for over 15 years. I used to watch the Ellen sit com in high school. I think her stand up is HILARIOUS, and the things she does and says on her show crack me up. I LOVE ELLEN! I want the whole world to know!

I agree with you that she is freakin' hilarious. I think that she has her own personal views that she touches on every once in a while and doesn't go that far in to depth. She definitely lets you know how she feels but keeps the humor all the while. I love her show and hate the sin not the sinner. I used to love her sitcom as well and think that she has only gotten funnier. Anyway, that is my view. Talk to you soon.

I am also a huge Ellen fan but of course don't agree with her personal life style. She is a crack up. She usually does pretty good about keeping her personal "choices" out of her show I think- but they do tend to pop up every now and then and its like UGH!!

I am right there with you, I love watching Ellen, I'm addicted to it and watch it almost every day. I didn't see monday's show but when she does talk about that kind of stuff, i feel the same way, it's icky!!!! I wish she wasn't gay, i wouldn't feel so bad watching her but I just don't tell anyone . I think she is super funny and a good person, just gay... and have you noticed she never has anyone on the show that you know doesn't support gays? not that there are that many... but still...

LUV Ellen. I totally agree...when they were playing all those games (I think it was Monday) I was grossed out as well. I do think she keeps most of that part of her life quiet. Another time I hated her show was all the wedding pictures she had on for awhile. BUT other than that-still love it. I want to have a game night with all her games!!!

I LOVE HER! Haha Tyrel always asks me how I can even watch her show, but I think she is awesome. I think she is so funny! Ummm one time she made the biggest moon man in the moon type thing for Christina Aguilera's kid but it had Ellen's face in it.. It rocked my socks. And who doesn't love Ellen in Finding Nemo? She was an awesome Dory!

I love Ellen! I watch her show a couple times a week too, I think she's freakin' hilarious. I watched Monday's show though, and I totally felt the same way. So hard to watch!! But I ain't gonna stop watching-she's funny. Plus she always does nice things for people and I usually end up shedding a tear or two...

To be honest I use to watch her show all the time but after all of the stuff that happened with the prop. I couldn't watch her show anymore. Also, I saw Obama on her show talking about same sex marriage and how he agreed with her that it wasn't fair for those types of relationships not to be recognized. I know that she plays a huge role in supporting same sex marriage and how can I support her lifestyle by watching her show. That may seem harsh but I guess in a way I feel I am taking my own small and probably pointless stand on what I believe. I deffinately don't judge what she does because it is not my place to judge. Only one person has that right. She can keep dancing and making everyone laugh, I am just not watching.

I defaintely don't feel that I'm "supporting her lifestyle by watching her show." More like supporting her...and I do belive that she does more good than bad with her show. Just me though. Love to hear all the differnt thoughts! Thanks everyone!!!

I think she's hilarious too!! Congrats on #4, it's been a while since I've been on your blog...I thought you were waiting! lol

I love the way she dresses and I would totally copy her outfits but I'm hetero.
Anyway, I don't even think her sexuality needs to be mentioned. She is funny and that is all there is to it.

Hey, I forgot to tell you that I do work Wednesday and Thursday -- but I hate when people come in that I know and I have to serve them. I can't talk to you if it's busy, and if it's not busy then I'll get in trouble for talking to you.

Anyway, what if we do breakfast on Thursday -- then we can use my discount and I can eat some yummy banana pancakes that I'm dying for. If you can't do it, it's cool. Let me know.

Who the crap CARES what lifestyle she is living? Its not our business to "support" it or not. Its HER life. Not any of ours. I LOVE Ellen, always have. I actually find their marraige to be refreshing and kinda cute. I could go on and on about this, Kristal knows this, but I won't so there's my two cents.

Wow...I'm so shocked at people's answers.(especially members of the church) She is an example of so much of what the world sees and views. I have only seen 2 shows of hers and honestly, Biggest Loser is the only show on TV I watch anymore. Satan is so involved in the media and it goes to how today so many people are so blinded in so many ways and justify themselves. Gotta love the liberals and Satan. Let's just get the second coming here already!

What shocks me is how judgemental some people are being ("especially members of the church"). Did your God command any of us to come down here and be the judges? Actually he told us to love ALL people. If you don't want to watch her show because you think she is promoting Satans work, then don't watch it. But don't lecture and chastise others who can watch it and enjoy it whether they "support her lifestyle" or not. Also, if people are going to ban her show from playing in their homesjust because of her personal choices, then they while they are at it they might want to NOT take their kids to see Monsters VS. Aliens this weekend at the movie theaters. Seth Rogen is in it and he doesn't make the best choices either. But do you hear anyone ever say "I am not going to support Seth Rogen by watching his movies because he is a porn addict, drinks alcohol and makes almost X-rated movies."
All I am saying is how is judging and chastising others righteous or doing anything the Christ instructed us to do?

I beat my kids, and disobey the laws of the land (I usually go 68 in the 65s) and I watch Ellen, don't have me as your photographer. I sin.

I can't watch biggest looser because it is a sin to but so much focus on body image. JUST KIDDING MIKEN. Love ya

I love how you are judging me for thinking I was judging you Amy. You stated your opinion, I stated mine. That's all I was doing. Sorry you took offense to my comment. I think anyone who totally makes a mockery of Chirst and on public TV; ELLEN, Tom Hanks and all the others who do should not get anyones support. We as members of the church should be the first ones to say I'm not going to support Seth, Ellen or Tom ect.
I thought long and hard after Kristal's orginal comment to me.(Thanks-it made me stop and think what I need to do better on my part)I'm sad you don't want to take be my photographer-your great!:)
The point I'm trying to make is Satan is out to get us and we all need to do EVERYTHING we can to protect our families and homes from what will and can destroy our families. Christ did tell us not to judge and love all people. We need to make good judgements in all areas of our lives so we are ready for the storms ahead.

I would love to be your photographer, I'm merely stating that if we're judting people and chosing what we do by other people's iniquities....judge me the same as you judge those you DON"T know. Like Cayla stated..hate the sin, not the sinner...cause we've all got em. If we judged everything we did, watched, ate, anything by the people that created, made or that we did thigns with, we'd have NO ONE to be our friends, NO one to watch. Which like I stated to you in my e mail...I agree, TV is getting out of hand,a nd we can't wait for our contract to be up (although it did carry me through my morning sickness). But honestly I don't understand how (unless she made a point to make her show about being gay) anyone could not LOVE Ellen and hate her sin (as well as our own sins). But like you, just my opionion, not judging you.

Amy John said...

First of all I am not offended, I think it is really just stupid. My honest opinion, stated. And since all we are doing here is stating opinions, here are some more of mine. If her show was about Gay people, doing gay things, only gay guests invited on, then you watching it would be supporting gays. But saying that her show is sinful and can destroy our families based on the fact that SHE is gay which has nothing to do with the show, is retarded. My opinion. I don't care if you don't watch it. I don't care if you won't watch any of those other peoples movies either. And Kristal is totally right. Everyone on the planet is a sinner. Different degrees of sinning yes, but they are. If you don't like someone because of a personal choice they made, then who the crap will you like? So to be choosy about who's sins are so satanic in your book is being judgemental, and that's not what we are supposed to be doing here. Just turn the TV off then, and when you go out don't get to know anyone else because you will find yourself very dissapointed! My opinion. It's just not fair to people like Ellen who are just living their lives the only way they know how. Let them be the way they want to be, and if you don' like it, then don;t watch. But like I said before, telling others that they are falling into satans trap by watching her show or any of those other peoples crap IS being judgemental, and me calling you out on that is NOT.

Amy John said...

I need to clarify something I said before. When I said that to be "choosy about whose sins are so satanic in your book is being judgemental", I also think you can still protect your family from something that you really think is crap, without sounding totally self-righteous. You on some level have to "judge" what is healthy for your kids to see and whatnot, but it shouldn't go any further than your home. Meaning don't fault any of us because we watch Ellen. Miken, I don't care if you don't watch it. If you think that is exactly the thing that your kids or you don't need to see, great. What pissed me off is that you flat out said all of us liberals and people watching the show are watching something promoted by satan. "Gotta love the liberals and satan!" Making it sound like you totally think you are better than us. We must be so terrible! Anyway, I am done now. Just wanted to clarify that.

Miken Harding said...

This is Miken's husband. Yes, I do believe libralism is promoted by Satan. Who else thought it was a good idea that someone above us told us exactly what to think, do, say, believe in? That is exactly what Liberalism is about; the government tells us what we can say on the radio and in school, pushes evolution and suppresses believe in God, promotes homosexuality, and does for everyone without anyone being accountable for their own lives. Second, read your "For the Strength of Youth" pamphlet, pick up an Ensign, listen to Conference. The prophets have told us that we should not sacrifice the sanctity of our homes for mere entertainment. Is that not being judgemental, by your standards? Then I guess President Monson is a judgemental hypocrit and needs to shut his mouth? There is so much that is disgusting and terrible in the world that we shouldn't be having a stupid feud over a talkshow that does nothing for us but provide entertainment. Miken made the comment because Ellen uses her show to parade her values and beliefs, however subtly or infrequently. Do we really want our children looking at Ellen and her wife and thinking, I guess it's OK. The Church teaches it's wrong but at home Mom and Dad didn't seem to have a real problem with it so it's not a bad thing.

Krystal, I'm sorry that your blog has become a war zone. This is the last post over this issue. Hopefully you still like Miken and I when this is all through.
