Kind of a big deal

During our years at school we kinda went through what little year supply we had, so we decided for our first year out we'd spend $100/mo to build it back up, um, that didn't go so well, we kept forgetting, or not setting the money aside or whatever, so last week we made a few orders...HUGE orders. And as I was putting the 6 big bottles of Olive Oil on the pantry shelve I seriously felt soo much more at ease about life. And you know when you do shiz that the Presidency reminds you time and time again to do things, and you FINALLY do them, that's a great feeling too. I'm SOO glad to have these huge ole bags of wheat too. I had no idea that the wheat ration was SO bad right now. Anyway, so our second order, that we picked up today was from this rad guy here in town. Its mostly organic, which we try to do (don't rag on me, I've done my research, you do yours and let's all be happy with our organic/non organic choices...I still drink horrible pasturized organic milk, so hold that against me...>Jase does!) But I'm going to show some of my favorite things that we got. Here is our 2nd freezer which now has a TON of Raw cheese, which I was not in favor of, but holy crap it's great!, a bunch BUNCH of tomatoe basil pesto (so good to spread on bread for Italian meals) Um, about 400 packages of whole wheat tortillas...I don't think jase realized how many it was. And there on the far right is a bunch of banana and cocnut whole fruit popcicles..>YUM!!!!

And above, we have long grain brown rice...which will be hard to use since we have NEVER been rice eaters, but now that my sister (who I will blog about soon) has taught me to make Salmon that I LOVE, I'm going to start doing fish and rice once a week. And yes, you can all make fun of me for my freezer full of turkey burgers. That wasn't a "health" decision, that was a "I'm on weight watchers and need a hamburger!!!" decision. HOpefully they're great! And then we got a few things that we didn't realize would be SO much, such as these amazing rasberry licorice packages. We always buy them at Whole foods and sprouts, so we figured we'd buy em in bulk for road trips and shiz...but um, that's a lot!

And now to the 2 items that I'm the most excited about! SWEET POTATOE PUREE!!! You can sneak this stuff into ANYTHING and the kids don't like it, or they like it better and it's full of great things. I know some of you have Jessica Sienfield's "deceptivley delcious" cook book, and about 75% of her stuff asks for it. GET THAT COOKBOOK if you don't have it and if you have kids. It's the best!
And the #1 thing that I was the most excited for...CREAMED HONEY! It's not organic or anything, but holy crap it's great! I've tried it with a few things, and I'm learning that it's just like regular honey on MOST things, but when you put it on something warm, mostly warm homemade bread or rolls, it's better than well, you know! It's soo good!

So that's my bulk food blog post for the month! I'm really excited about it all. It also got me even more excited for June when my sister Vonda is going to come help me can and teach me to be more prepared!!!! Oh, and does anyone have any suggestions for things to can/jar? What are some of your favorites????

There is a guy in town that has a HUGE catalog with pretty much EVERY brand at Sprouts and Whole Foods and you spend um, about a week thumbing through the dang thing to compare prices and it also shows which ones are 100% organic, 95% organic, non organic, gluten free, dairy free, kosher, all that shizzle. Oh, the honey is from grandma's country foods...google it. An order is delivered to Eager up here so my friend picks it up for me.

I want some pesto - where do I get it from? Hope you like the turkey burgers, they are ok, but I love the Boca Burgers (because Im a big vegitarian nut)

I like canned peaches. They are really easy, and my kids love them. They go with almost any meal, especially lunch. Come see me this fall in Utah and get some peaches while you are there! Way to go on the year supply. I know the feeling when you finally do it. Oh yeah, I love the 'deceptively delicious' cookbook too. I made banana bread with cauliflower in it for my Sunday School class and they about died when I told them! Ha! I love it. Anyway good luck canning. I've heard that chicken is really easy too.

I had a good talk with Vonda on Monday about my lack of a year supply. Yikes, we're gonna starve when the time comes. I'm so proud of you for having yours. Vonda gave me some good ideas for getting started on mine. I just need to get one that already.

I'm a little late on this, so sorry but I think you should do your hair Dark red. Look at Kate Walsh, Beautiful red head.

Good job on the year supply. Did it cost you a fortune? We have like 30 year old beans and wheat. Yuck! Nathans mom gave it to us and we don't know quite what to do with it.

We bought about $800 worth for now. We'll have to keep buying every month though cause we go through it. But yea, we do have oats and dry milk that we've had for about 7 years. We defaintely needs A LOT MORE though.
and Koi! I just narrowed it down to browin w/highlights yesterday! I'll be sending pictures like I always do, and then freaking out when I actually get there like I always do!

You go girl! Those are all good choices. I wish I had the honey and sweet potatoes. You must cook a lot. Me...not so much right now. That's why I'm fat with fast foods.

My dad loves cox's honey-it's great stuff! Good job on getting on the ball, I wish we had more than $10 a month to put towards our food storage. Someday when Phil gets his book published! Freezer Strawberry jam is my favorite to can! Good luck!

Wow I can't wait to get settled again and buy food storage! I know what you mean about feeling such a relief when you do those things the first presidency says we need to be doing, it feels sooo good! Way to go!
